FiringSquad has learned that Sony Computer Entertainment America and a number of other major game publishers have no plans to attend the inaugural E For All Expo, the consumer oriented video-PC game event that is scheduled to be held in Los Angeles on Oct. 18-21. The event was first announced by IDG World Expo in early January and was promoted as a kind of consumer replacement to the old E3 format of large exhibits and spectacle (the new E3, launched earlier this summer, has become an invite only media event). So far, IDG has confirmed that Nintendo will attend as well as Electronic Arts and their web site also indicates THQ, Konami and Namco will also exhibit at the event along with PC hardware makers Intel and NVIDIA and a number of smaller companies. However it appears that the new E For All Expo will also be missing several major companies when it is held at the LA Convention Center (the site of the old E3). The biggest is Sony Computer Entertainment America, with their corporate communications spokesperson Kimberly Otzman telling us, "At this point in time we don't have any plans to participate in the E for All Expo." In addition FiringSquad has officially confirmed that Sony Online Entertainment, NCSoft, Sega and Capcom have all decided to not participate in the first E For All Expo. When contacted, a representative from Microsoft told FiringSquad that they have not yet decided if they will be exhibiting at E For All Expo. FiringSquad has contacted a number of other major publishers to inquire about their participation in the show; they have so far not gotten back in touch with us by the time of the posting of this article. FiringSquad has contacted IDG World Expo for comment but so far we have not heard back from them as of the posting of this article. We will post an updated news post with any further info as it develops.
Update A Midway PR rep has now told FiringSquad that it also does not plan to attend the E For All Expo event.
