With Sony finally announcing the PlayStation 3 Slim at $299, how long will it be before Microsoft matches them with the Xbox 360 Elite? Looks like the end of the month, according to a new Wal-Mart circular planned for distribution on August 30, which advertises the 360 Elite at the new price point of $299 (via Kotaku).
This would be the second ad in recent weeks to show an impending 360 Elite price cut, as an ad from regional chain Meijer also recently listed the console at $299. On top of that, rumor has it that Microsoft intended to announce the price drop at their GamesCom conference earlier this week, but pulled the announcement because they wanted to wait to sell through more of the current stock of Arcade and Elite units sitting on shelves.
Add it all up, and it seems assured that the Xbox 360 Elite will drop to $299 soon. So if you've been planning on buying one recently, you might want to wait a couple of weeks more to see what happens.
