Sakurai interview
Latest Wii/DS games from Square Enix
"a couple of cool suprises that will make you cheer." - expect something like Wii Cheerleading based on previous experience.

Baroque Review
-Combat is slow and quickly grows boring
-Lose exp and items when you die
-No explanation at the beginning of what is going on or who you are
-Bits and pieces of story explained when you die, but often find yourself wondering what to do and where to go next
-Graphics are average
-Dungeons drab and unimpressive
-Localization laughably bad

WiiFit
-1.4 million sold in Japan in three months
- May 19 release
- Dedicated Wii Channel

Features
Deadly Creatures (5 pages, so this will be a very light summary)
- Large, interconnected environments
- Acquired skills for navigating environments
- Upgradeable fighting abilities
- Complex, gradually unfolding storyline
- Lead designer got the idea for the game after waking up from a dream in late 2006 where he was playing as a snake slithering through the grass, using the remote. (creative dreams)
- Dev team started with 8 people, now up to 30
- Action-adventure with elements of survival horror
- Tarantula is like a ninja, scorpion like a tank.
- Press B and Z to control your right and left pincers, swing forward with remote to sting with tail. Sideways swing swipes your tail. C blocks, dodge by moving nunchuk, A locks on. Press B+Z to initiate a foe-specific finishing move (sequence of on-screen prompts).
- Tarantula can snare enemies in webs, activate a mid-range pounce attack, and grapple with the pointer. Jump with Z.
- 10 chapters
- Story told in flashback
- Kill smaller enemies to regain health
- All textures hand-painted
- Should be released before the holiday season

The World Ends With You
- Control Neku on bottom screen with stylus - tap, slash, circle
- Control partner on upper screen with control pad or buttons (lefty-friendly) - up/down to evade, left/right to attack
- Card games on the top screen (i.e. Concentration and War) played by selecting the right combos when Neku's partner attacks
- Mechanics start out simple, build up complexity as you go
- You can make enemies stronger, or lower your level to add varying degrees of difficulty
- "Over a dozen singers were hired to perform vocals for nearly every track in the game, and the end result is a high-energy melange of dance, trance and hip-hop with English, Engrish, and Japanese vocals"

Interview (World Ends With You director)
- Two and a half years in development
- Lots of staff from KH: Chain of Memories
- Composed by Takeharu Ishimoto
- Japanese songs definitely in the US release
- English songs popular in Japan, some words are "cooler" in English
- Game set in Shibuya because it is symbolic as the center of the youth culture, map almost identical to Shibuya in real life
- Dual screen battles max out the hardware
- Users feel a risk when buying a new IP, lack the security of an established title
- Difficulty slider put in place so everyone could reach the end without being bored or annoyed at the difficulty; can be adjusted at any time
- Characters level up when you have the game shut off for long periods of time - if you get bored or frustrated with the game, next time you come back to it, you find yourself stronger than before.
- Multiplayer was considered early on
- Well received in Japan, requests for a sequel.
- Currently working on Versus XIII

Previews
Rondo of Swords
- Draw movement path for fighters - automatically attack enemies you pass, also get healing and stat-boosting by passing allies.
- Characters have momentum - as you fight, momentum builds. This boosts your rate for special attacks, but also attracts attention of enemy units. If you find yourself with a mage on the front line, you can draw enemy attention with your fighters so they leave your weaker units alone.
- Characters can go on side quests, shopping trips, and training regiments when they aren't fitting in your battle roster

Features
Okami
- Swing remote for physical attack
- Dodge by flicking nunchuk left/right
- Press B to stop time, move brush with remote, A to apply paint

Generally more an overview of the game itself rather than any Wii-specifics.

Mario Kart
- Mini-turbo after doing tricks
- Most items return (Bullet Bill from DS replaces Chain Chomp), three new items:
Mega Mushroom, POW Block, Lightning Cloud
- Freshest MK experience since SNES
- Using the wheel takes some adjustment - full turning range is about 10:00-2:00
- Short impressions of the first 16 tracks w/ thumbnails
- 12 standard characters, 6 hidden, unlockable Mii
- Overview of the button config for remote while in the wheel
- Point into the slide before you hop to do a drift - easy to start drifting the wrong way otherwise
- Automatic Drift option (no mini-turbos, no hopping)
- Both stages of mini-turbo charged by holding a drift
- Ramps/hills/bumps in all courses for tricks
- Wiimote speaker sounds alarm when an item is approaching
- Drafting returns from MK DS
- Timing for turbo start the same as MK DS
- Grand Prix: 1-2 players; Battle: 1-4 players; Time Trials; Vs.: 2-4 players
- Race and challenge ghost data in Time Trials online
- Battle Mode - Balloon Pop and Coin Runners; 2 6-man teams
- No mission mode from MK DS
- 50cc karts only, 100cc bikes only, 150cc both
- Bikes only have one stage turbo, but can pop wheelies to get a boost

Reviews
Opoona
- Straightforward yet interesting story
- Simple controls - "you can play using only the nunchuk if you wish"
- Lack of complex gameplay systems
- Fast-paced, easy-to-learn fighting (active battle system, random encounters)
- Flick analog stick to fire weapon
- Magiclike techniques and customizable weapons add some depth
- Nice backgrounds and music
- "lifestyle RPG" elements (careers) don't influence the game, merely sidequests; no use of Wii controls in these (seem to be all text-based, like selecting dance steps from a text list)
- Inadequate map and poorly designed areas can be confusing
- Static dungeon camera, clunky environmental collision
- Flaws don't ruin the game, but definitely a lack of polish
