MARIO DUNKS BALLS WITH SQUARE ENIX
3 on 3 Basketball announced for DS and Gamecube, developed by Square Enix on behalf of Nintendo - UPDATE!
A new title called Mario Basket 3-on-3 has been announced, with claims attached that it's to be developed by Square Enix for the Nintendo's DS platform, according to a report on website Magic Box.
Also talked about is a gameplay hook whereby coins are obtained from throwing balls into the baskets on-court.
We put a call into Nintendo UK for comment but apparently the game's not currently on its schedule. So it's either simply a 'yet to be announced for these shores' case, or it might not make it over here at all. Of course, it's possible that it may well reach us under a different name if it does come our way. We'll keep you posted.
An early 2006 release in Japan and mid-2006 for Europe is expected.

A nintendo spokesperson has just confirmed the game is releasing on DS and GameCube. There will be no connectivity between the titles and it's said to look rather promising. When we have visual evidence to share, we'll make sure to dunk our balls in your general direction.
