Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) to collaborate in the continued development of eSports worldwide. As part of this initiative, two FIFAe World Cups™ will be held by the end of 2024, each of which will feature eFootball™ competition titles for mobile and home consoles.
The objective of KONAMI's collaboration with FIFA is to further enhance the joy of the global soccer community through eSports. By allowing players to represent their country or region in the tournament, this initiative takes community engagement to a new level.
The FIFAe World Cup™ is scheduled to begin with in-game qualifiers on Thursday, October 10. To ensure that all communities can participate, two competitions will be held, one on mobile and one on home consoles, each to determine the FIFAe World Champion. In the inaugural competition, representatives from 18 countries and regions will be invited to participate in the finals of the "FIFAe World Cup™," selected from a composite of various criteria, including player demographics and past performance. Anyone who updates to the latest version of eFootball™ will be able to take part in this exciting new world competition.
The participating countries and territories in the first FIFAe World Cup™ to be played with eFootball™ are Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, England, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Morocco, the Netherlands, Poland and Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand, and Turkey.
