Control Resonant Launch Hotfix Makes Enemies Less Tanky and Dylan Stronger
PlayStation 5: 01.300.300
Xbox Series X|S: 1.3.3.0
PC: 1.3.3
As the game launches globally today,
CONTROL Resonant has already been in the hands of a significant number of players. We have been keeping a close eye on player feedback, reading all the reviews, and looking at early player data. And, of course, we have been spending a lot (a lot!) of time playing the final game ourselves over the past few weeks. It's great to see players enjoying the game and having a great time with it.
Based on what we have seen so far, we have decided to deploy a hotfix (1.3.3) at launch to address a few specific things: enemy health pools feeling too high, requiring too many hits to Falter (stun) enemies for executions, and Dylan’s overall combat strength early on in the game not feeling powerful enough (even if the man just woke up from a coma).
Enemy Health and Dylan’s Combat Strength
We strongly believe these changes will improve the gameplay feel and flow while still providing a challenge.
Depending on player progression, enemies can feel too tanky during the early hours of the game. To address this, we are making the following changes:
- Reduce the base health and required Falter (stun) level of most enemies, as well as the Dancer and Deserter bosses
- Increase maximum Aberrant Strength and maximum Ability Strength
- These strength increases follow a curve, with progressively larger increases towards the end. The more upgrades you have, the more damage you deal.
Assist Mode
If you want to tweak the game further to your liking and tailor individual parts of the experience, such as enemy aggression, incoming damage, or how quickly Dylan recovers his abilities, the Assist Mode is there for you in the Gameplay menu of the game’s options. You can use the sliders to adjust the difficulty to your preference and have much more control over individual aspects of the experience, even to make the game more harder if you want!
Respeccing
To encourage buildcrafting and experimentation, we are permanently reducing the cost of respeccing and increasing the stock of these “Reset Items” across all vendors in the game.
- In addition, the first Resonant boss fight (The Artist) will now drop two “Reset Items” instead of one.
UI Text Updates
We will also update a couple of English UI texts to explain Build Power and Aberrant Strength better. These text changes will be English-only for now, with localizations to follow as soon as possible.
- Aberrant Strength: “Multiplier X%” will now be: “Damage and Falter X%”.
- Build Power: “Calculated based on equipped Weapon Forms, Talents and Core Upgrades.” will now be: “From unlocked Combat Abilities, Aberrant forms/upgrades, Talents, and Core Upgrades.”
We will closely follow your feedback and make further adjustments as needed. Enjoy the game, take your time, explore, and let us know what you think.
