God is a Geek 8.5/10
Video Review
Shacknews 7/10Godfall is a massive surprise. It borrows combat from God of War and has enough loot to make Diablo blush. It may look garish but it's well designed and has that "one more go" factor.
GamesRadar+ 7/10If you want a fairly mindless RPG experience that offers some different weapons and gear to mess around with, then Godfall will give you at least a few hours of fun. Just don’t expect a fantasy story worthy of its inspirations, or a world that fully explores its potential and you’ll be fine.
TheGamer 5/10An enjoyable hack and slash looter that plays well despite a sparse, repeating structure.
Digital Trends 5/10Godfall is the quintessential launch game. This gilded PS5 exclusive shows off the power of the new hardware with its intricate, reflective halls of gold and obsidian, bioluminescent plant life, and enemies who explode in a shower of particles. “Next-gen is here,” it shouts, in a scream that’s barely perceptible over the whistle of high-speed steel. Underneath all of that sheen and noise, though, there’s nothing new at all.
EGM 4/10Godfall offers a lot of promise with its impressive visuals and impactful combat, but those highlights are lost in a sparse dungeon crawler that sells its strengths short. It’s far different than the Destiny 2 clone fans were anticipating, but that live service style may have been a better fit for its commitment to loot grinding.
IMPRESSIONS/ IN PROGRESSGodfall’s sluggish, overly complicated combat, hilariously paper-thin story, and numerous technical issues make it a lowlight of the PlayStation 5’s launch lineup.

GameSpotAs of right now, however, I’m enjoying Godfall, even if it’s not doing much to wow me and the repetition of its missions is wearing a bit thin. It’s got some fun and satisfying combat, a few genuinely novel mechanics, and graphics that range from absolutely gorgeous to a little over the top – but unless its thin story morphs into more than an excuse to go stab stuff, the grindable action-looter structure doesn't seem like it has enough variety to sustain its otherwise expansive customization.

Game InformerThe early signs are promising, then, particularly when it comes to combat. Mission design is uninspired thus far, with each one shuffling me from one fight to another with little else in between. Whether the combat has to carry the load throughout the entire game remains to be seen, but it just might be up to the task. I still need to dig into the Valorplates, which are sort of like skins for your character that come with different passive abilities and ultimate moves, and it seems to be a key piece of the game's loot grind. You can expect my full Godfall review once I've finished the rest of the story and explored the endgame.

GamingTrendIn my time, I've enjoyed the boss battles and loot, but have grown bored of the three open-world environments, which are small and don't hold much visual flavor. Everything looks the same, be it the architecture, rocks, plants, and even the enemies. Godfall hits one note at the beginning of the game and holds it all the way to the end. It's not a bad note, but if not for the loot progression, I don't think I would play for long. The story and world are both lifeless, and don't hold much excitement at all.

DestructoidWhen so many games are launching on previous-generation hardware, it’s great to see what the PlayStation 5 is truly capable of delivering. If this is what we can expect in the future, that future is very, very bright.
FanbyteThe jury is out on whether or not this is worthy of the full $70 next-gen pricetag, but for now, color me surprised.
والأن عددنا صار صفر .Godfall feels like a fictitious game you’d see someone playing in a show like Black Mirror.
It’s so aggressively mediocre that it made me question not just my decision to continue playing, but the entire medium of video games and how I ever got caught up in working with them.
