Microsoft plans to officially launch the Xbox 360 in the UAE on April 26, after which the game console will be rolled out throughout the region, the company said yesterday.
Microsoft has implemented a full-fledged Xbox 360 support network with headquarters in Dubai. Microsoft Entertainment and Devices (E&D) Division Middle East is the department responsible for Xbox 360.
According to the company, Microsoft E&D has seen a “76 per cent” growth worldwide as a result of the Xbox 360 console, software and accessories.
“Next month, we will announce details of the launch in the UAE and the steps taken to ensure the Xbox 360 will soon be available throughout the region with the proper customer support,” said Armagan Demir, head of Entertainment & Devices Division Middle East.
Promising to capture the attention of Middle East gamers, Demir said the official launch of the game in the UAE will signify that gamers have easy access to high-definition graphics, unparalleled online play and gripping digital entertainment features of the Xbox 360. It will also ensure technical support, events, community and access to “over 160 games” that are available to gamers abroad.
“The proven success of the third generation console abroad with the biggest portfolio of games indicates that the Xbox 360 should be well received in the Middle East,” said Demir.
“The region is characterised by its high youth population and high disposable income, making it a lucrative market for gaming consoles and third generation entertainment” Xbox 360 is also the ultimate lifestyle addition with an amplifier for music, movies and photos stored on devices such as MP3 players, digital cameras and Windows Vista, according to the company.
“The console makes it easy for you to enjoy all their digital content in the living room, on the best TV and speakers in the house,” said Demir.
