The much-maligned controls have been compared often to Gears of War 2, with some claiming that they're too rigid. "It was important for us to go with the design choices that would make the best Resident Evil game that we could," he says. "We didn't want to go in trying to make some other game. Takeuchi was also put on the spot recently when news hit that series creator Shinji Mikami won't play RE5. From a friend and mentor, the comments seemed critical, but Takeuchi is good-natured about it. "I do talk to him about things like this, so I think that, ultimately, he doesn't want to have the press coming up and asking him about Resident Evil 5 since it's a title that he didn't make," he says. "He previously told me that he wants to avoid having to make comments on a game that he himself hasn't developed
