SCEA Third-Party Manager Joins Ubisoft

The former manager of Sony Computer Entertainment of America’s third-party relations has left, taking his skills and experience to Ubisoft. [Update] SCEA assures Next-Gen that developer relations will remain solid, with more than 10,000 PS3 dev kits shipped to date.
Mark DeLoura quietly announced his departure from Sony in a blog post last week, although he has just now confirmed that he would take on the role of technical director at Ubisoft’s San Francisco establishment.

He wrote in his blog, “I'll take all the things I learned about developers, and publishers, and the game industry. And I'll move forward to a new role, with the expectation of an opportunity to learn a lot of new things, contribute in unique ways, and feel like I'm making a difference in my own manner, in a new place.”

Prior to joining SCEA, DeLoura held a role as lead technical director at Nintendo of America, and was also editor-in-chief of Game Developer magazine. He was with SCEA for five years.

Consumer site GameSpot confirmed DeLoura’s departure. He told the publication, “I've always really gotten along well with the people I've met at Ubisoft. The company focuses on creating unique experiences and also likes working with developers on their own IP.”
