رسميا: AMD تشتري ATI ب 5.4 بليون دولار ...

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Advanced Micro Devices Inc (AMD.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the No. 2 supplier of computer processors, said on Monday it would acquire graphics chip maker ATI Technologies Inc. for $5.4 billion in cash and stock to expand its product mix and grow market share as it battles Intel Corp. (INTC.O: Quote, Profile, Research).

Under terms of the deal, AMD will acquire all of the outstanding common shares of ATI for $4.2 billion in cash and 57 million shares of AMD common stock, based on the number of shares of ATI common stock outstanding on July 21.

نحن أمام لحظة حاسمة راح تغير كثير من معالم صناعة الألعاب ( الPC على وجه الخصوص ) .. ATI صارت حصرية لمعالجات AMD, و أعتقد AMD ماصارت في حاجة ل nVidia الي تقريبا صارت منافسة لهم.. بس ماندري إيش ممكن يصير.. Intel خلاص صار لها قسمها الخاص والمهتم بأبحاث الجرافيكس والGPUs يعني انفيديا مو خيار مهم لهم.. يلا سوني اشتري انفيديا ! والله سوني لو تشتري انفيديا وتسوي أبحاث أكثر على الجرافيكس علشان تستخدمها في أفلام انيمشنز من انتاجها بيكون توجه جيد للشركة..

خبر كبير ومهم جداً وراح يغير الـPC gaming بشكل كبير.

لكن هل هذا معناه أن كل كروت ووحدات الجرافيكس اللي تصنعها ATI راح تكون حصرية لمعالجات AMD؟ ما أعتقد أبداً. ATI ما راح ترضى بالشيء هذا و AMD بتصير كأنها واحد يشتري مطعم عشان ياكل فيه لحاله (يعني تدفع بلايين عشان توفر ملايين؟).

ممكن الـchipsets تصير حصرية (وراح توفر كثير على AMD) .. لكن لو صارت كروت الجرافيكس حصرية فهو يوم سعد انفيديا.

لكن لو صارت كروت الجرافيكس حصرية فهو يوم سعد انفيديا.

بقوة .. بالنسبة لي أصلا انفيديا أفضل ATI
بس أبدًا ما أتوقع .. بيكون أغبى خطوة تصير في تاريخ الـPCs

الخبر قريته من كم يوم ..

الخبر الرسمي اليوم طالع طازة.. إلي كان أولا شبه تأكيدات..

وأول ردة فعل من قبل Intel لول :

There is a lot of news surrounding ATI at the moment, especially with the AMD buy out confirmed earlier today.

Intel has pulled ATI's chipset license, meaning that there will be no more ATI (or rather, AMD) chipsets for Intel processors after the end of the year.
There will still be time for one more though, namely the upcoming RD600 chipset, which doesn't look like it will be cancelled, despite the earlier news. However, it is unclear whether the RD600 project will see the light of day though.

Intel has pushed the fact that its 975X chipset supports CrossFire quite heavily, especially with the Core 2 Duo launch. I think it is a fairly safe bet to say that Intel will contine to support CrossFire on its high end chipsets for the foreseeable future.

After all, Intel is keen to sell its own products, especially now it has the fastest chip on the market. Also, I don't believe that AMD would choose to lock CrossFire out on Intel's chipsets either, because it just wouldn't make financial sense - AMD/ATI will still profit from the video cards sold for use with Intel products.

Intel has already dropped support for CrossFire on its 965-series chipsets and it is unclear whether Intel will continue to design chipsets that support multi-GPU technologies. The company has been hinting at moving GPU tasks back onto the CPU for a few months now.

السوق راح يتلخبط مع هذي الصفقة.. راح نشوف آلاف مخاض قوية لولادة جديدة للسوق.. هممم ننتظر ونشوف.

ردة فعل nVidia الرسمية : جن سن هوانق رئيس الشركة يقول بإنه كان يعتقد إنه من المستحيل الحصول على " هدية " مثل هذي.. شبه الصفقة هذي بإعلان ATI استسلامها أو اقرارها بالهزيمة..

PLENTY TO SMILE ABOUT. Maybe that's why Intel and Nvidia (NVDA), the companies' two biggest rivals, found a lot to smile about on July 24, the day the deal was announced. "I thought it was just impossible to get a gift like this," crowed Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, in an interview with BusinessWeek.com. ATI is "basically throwing in the towel, leaving us as the only stand-alone (graphics chip) company in the world."

والمحللين يؤكدوا إن انفيديا هي المستفيد الأكبر من هذه الصفقة على المدى البعيد !!

Brian Piccioni, of BMO Capital Markets, said in a note published that "it seems likely that (NVIDIA) will, within 12 to 18 months, have the highly profitable high-end discrete GPU market all to itself."

We can reasonably expect some margin improvement company-wide as well - after all, there's no need to market against a non-existent foe. Piccioni put it best: "While it may not be immediately evident, this transaction may the best thing to happen to NVIDIA in a long time."

لول.. والله السوق بيشعلل.. انفيديا راح تكمل تصنيع الكروت لAMD و Intel في نفس الوقت.. بس كون ATI و AMD مع بعض فراح يكونوا أكثر قوة و أكثر علم بتفاصيل الأمور التقنية مما راح يساعد على تنصيع منتجات أفضل.. يعني انفيديا ممكن ما تكون الخيار رقم 1 لمعالجات AMD.. الله أعلم.
