Personally, I understand the eagerness behind KHII -- I and many other guys in the office were really excited when the game arrived, and as someone who's played and beaten the original and GBA title a number of times, I was definitely looking forward to this one. However, once I, and some of the others, started playing the game, it was a definite let down. The combat was way too simple, and while the number of attacks and abilities gives the player a lot of ways to kill opponents, it's eventually unfulfilling and boring. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful title with a great story, but literally turning it's back on most of the RPG elements and explorations of the worlds does the game a great disservice.

The scale of the game is impressive, and the handling of both Square and Disney franchises continues nicely -- It'd be great if the worlds weren't so linear and short.
9.0 Graphics
Visually striking, with plenty of flair and animated touches throughout the game. Worlds look very much like their filmed counterparts.
8.5 Sound
Sound is good, although quite a lot of lines fall flat or are pulled directly from movie dialogue, which feels off.
7.5 Gameplay
Combat is literally reduced to button mashing, and the newly included abilities aren't even necessary for the game. This is a big step back from the action/RPG mix of the original.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
The story is definitely a great one, but the lack of difficulty and the hack and slash will probably keep everyone except the hardcore from returning to this adventure.

The Good: Many improvements over the previous game; fixed camera angle and new gameplay dynamics; tons of guest appearances and cameos; wonderfully rich familiar environments; excellent voice acting and music.
The Bad: The standard level of difficulty is far too easy; some of the square characters are given horrible dialogue; gameplay relies too heavily on button mashing.
