Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is to feature a shaving mini-game. Well, maybe anyway.
According to reports, the latest issue of US magazine EGM splurges how dev star Hideo Kojima has let slip the wacky info that we may witness Solid Snake's beard grow during the course of the game. Wow, and we're pretty sure this feature would only be possible thanks to the power of PS3, which would even allow Snake to whip out his stealth razor - with in-built micro-missile launcher, retinal scanner and tooth brush - and keep his whiskers firmly under control.
Although the mini-game stuff appears to be a bit of speculation, the beard growing (and shaving) looks like it'll feature as long as there's time to implement it. Apparently, the feature was actually considered for previous games in the series but never made it in. Shame about that really.
An additional interesting MGS 4 detail touched on included the possibility of Metal Gear Solid 3's healing and camouflage elements appearing in modified form. But it'll be far removed from the last title, Kojima reminding us that Snake's caught up in near-future war and won't be chasing down the local wildlife. No frogs croaking it in this game, then

From the way the actors were talking, the visuals sound pretty damn good, especially the facial expressions. Kojima said they were done by hand, and will get even better as time goes on when they use motion capture. When he said they'd get even better, they all sounded even more surprised.

- Original TGS trailer was only intended to be 10 seconds long. It was to show Snakes new model. It was just him standing up with his bandana waving in the wind.
- Kojima decided while putting that trailer together that he wanted to include alot more and so the trailer went from 10 seconds to 9 minutes.
- Otacon's final model differs greatly from his TGS model.
- Textures were a rush job to get completed.
Essentially everything you saw in the trailer aside from Snake was them rushing to get something together by that time. Which isn't all that surprising since Kojima later admitted to EGM that during the process they didn't have enough time to include civilians in the trailer. So you can pretty much expect the E3 trailer to look alot different from what we've got now.
