Move over Jack Sparrow. Step aside Narnia siblings. There's a new person in Disney's plans. His name? Prince.
No, not the guy who changed his name to a symbol and is rocking out like it's still 1999. The other Prince, the one who can wall-dash across castle courtyards and hang from ledges while still keeping a sense of humor and good-looking hair.
It appears as though Disney, along with high-profile producer Jerry Bruckheimer, have already started work on a film adaptation of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Several rumors abound that if the movie is successful, it might be the next series of blockbusters (a la Pirates of the Caribbean).
There's still no word yet on who will be in the movie, but the writing credits do contain one very familiar name: Jordan Mechner. If you're not familiar, Mechner is the man who created the Prince of Persia series almost 20 years ago. He's also a filmmaker in his own right.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time: The Movie is slated for a summer 2008 theatrical release. And if for some reason the movie bombs, let's hope that we can all use the Sands of Time to rewind history and pretend the film never happened.
