According to the latest issue of Japanese publication
Weekly Famitsu, Sega is working on the latest in its Sound Novel series for the PlayStation 3 titled
Imabikisou. Developed by Chunsoft, the series first debuted in 1992 with
Otogirisou on the Super Famicom system and other titles followed such as
Kamaitachi No Yoru (Super Famicom, PlayStation) and
Machi (Sega Saturn). Although most outside of Japan may not be familiar, the series has a strong following among some of the Japanese gamers. The series is usually centered on suspense and horror themes and the latest title is no exception. The main character of the game, Hiroki Makimura and his girlfriend Aimi, along with a few of his friends are out for some fun having gotten hold of a drug called Vision. The horror begins as all his friends later die mysteriously of severe burns. Hiroki and Aimi decide to head to the possible source to escape the curse, an old mansion surrounded by mysterious flowers called
Imabikisou, which is also the title of the game.
Players will enjoy high definition visuals, a mix of both live action and CG, with 5.1 surround sound audio. Although you will mostly be reading through texts, character's dialogues will have voice-overs.
Imabikisou is slated for a fall release in Japan.
