The game is staged in a world where when people die, their memories remain but they become ash, and immediately reincarnated. The main character, Aisha, goes on a quest to understand the mystery of this world. Sakaguchi calls the game a "Simulation RPG" because it has a heavy RPG flavor. He states that his favorite genre from his close to 20 years of game development is the Simulation RPG genre, but he hasn't been able to put any of the ideas he had into reality, he hopes that his 20 years of thoughts and ideas will be included in "Ash".
The music guy says he's never done a game with a female lead, so he's looking forward to working on the game.
Sakaguchi says in the end that he is going to present a realistic picture and look of the game on both of the DS' screens without thinking that it's a DS.
