Building on the success of last year's Heroes of the Pacific, Melbourne's IR Gurus are working on a sequel for next-generation consoles.
Heroes Over Europe will be published by Red Mile Entertainment on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and PSP. It is due for release in September 2008.
IR Gurus has just completed six months of pre-production and promise spectacular dogfights in crowded skies of hundreds of planes.
In a coup for IR Gurus and the Australian game development industry, the producer on Heroes Across Europe is Kevin Buckner, a 25-year industry veteran who previously worked for Lionhead on Black and White and Fable.
Buckner's experience on the early FIFA games at Electronic Arts should also prove invaluable to the IR Gurus AFL team.
A stylish and technologically impressive flight combat simulation, Heroes of the Pacific won best game at the 2005 Australian Game Developers Awards.
